Six things we look for, and a longer list of things we deliberately do not. Read it before you spend 90 seconds on an estimate — we would rather you self-select out than be disappointed later.
You need to be in the YouTube Partner Programme and earning ad revenue today. If you are not monetised yet, there is no catalog revenue for us to license.
Below roughly $500/month a catalog licence is not worth the paperwork for either of us. Content ID protection in the app is free, and worth setting up now either way.
We need enough history to see a pattern. A brand-new channel, however fast it is growing, has nothing predictable to underwrite yet.
Evergreen content — tutorials, reviews, music, compilations — underwrites best because old videos keep earning. News and trend-chasing catalogs decay fast and get a smaller offer.
You must hold the rights to the videos you license to us. Reuploads, unlicensed clips and compilations of other people's footage cannot be included.
If an MCN or network already holds exclusive rights to your catalog revenue, that agreement has to be checked first. Bring us the contract and we will tell you honestly.
Most creator financing falls over on one of these. None of them apply here.
Not every channel is a fit, and pretending otherwise wastes your time. These are the honest deal-breakers.
If the videos are not yours to license — clips of other people's footage, reuploads, unlicensed music — they cannot go in the deal. We check.
Active strikes, repeated policy warnings or a monetisation appeal in progress mean the future revenue is not there to license. Clear it up first.
A single video that spiked and a catalog that earns nothing otherwise is not predictable. We would rather say no than quote you a number we cannot stand behind.
If an MCN or network holds exclusive rights to your catalog revenue, that contract comes first. Send it to us and we will tell you straight whether there is room.
Not there yet? Content ID protection is free in the Copyright Capital app regardless of your revenue, and it claims ad money from anyone reuploading your videos. That is worth switching on today whether or not a licence ever makes sense for you.
The estimate tells you where you stand in about 90 seconds, and it will tell you plainly if a licence is not the right fit yet.
